Bald Head Island Ferry

It only takes 20 minutes for the Bald Head Island Ferry to carry you from Deep Point Marina in Southport, NC to the charming shores of Bald Head Island. There's even a live camera where you can watch it come and go, which you can find here.

Ferry Schedule

The Winter schedule may be condensed, and the Summer expanded, but in general - the Bald Head Island Ferry leaves the Southport mainland on the hour and leaves Bald Head Island every half hour, beginning at 7 a.m.

Ferry Cost

  • Adults: $22 round trip
  • Children (ages 3-12): $11 round trip
  • Toddlers (2 and under): Free

You can also reserve a Tram to take you to your Bald Head Island destination here.

Ferry Departure Location

Deep Point Marina
1301 Ferry Rd SE, Southport, NC 28461
(910) 269-2380

You can find the Marina directly before Southport-Fort Fisher Ferry Landing. If you're coming into Southport on Route 211 South (aka. Howe Street), turn left on East Moore Street, then right onto Ferry Road (211) at the circle. Keep going for a 1/2 mile then take another right into Deep Point Marina. You'll see signs for the ferry terminal.

Getting on the Ferry

Passenger and Luggage

Once you reach the terminal area, you'll pull over to the side of the road to drop off your passengers & luggage (if you have any). Keep in mind that your luggage will be loaded on the ferry via a conveyor belt. This means that any small unsecured items need to be placed in a container for protection. It's a good idea to pack the same way you would if taking a flight.

Parking The Car

When you have everything unloaded, you'll continue on to the parking lot to secure your vehicle. Please remember to allow any pets to use the restroom before entering the terminal.

It costs $8 a day for General parking throughout the year, except for Memorial Day thru Labor Day, where the price increases to $10 a day.

When it's time to board the ferry, you'll head into the terminal and give your ticket to the attendant at the gated entrance. After that, you can make your way onto the ferry itself, find a seat and simply relax for the scenic 20-minute ride over to Bald Head Island.

Accommodations and Getting Around

Depending on how long you intend to stay on the island, you'll have a variety of options once you reach the shore.

If you're just visiting for the day, we suggest renting a Golf Cart to get around in here. If you're going to be with us for a while though, we'd love the chance to set you up in one of our many charming Bald Head Island Rentals!
