Each is different, but each includes the following standard amenities:

Getting Here: The Bald Head Island Ferry
Getting to the Island is an adventure. You’ll depart from the ferry terminal at the Deep Point Marina in Southport. Leave your car in the parking lot and board one of the Island’s four passenger ferries. Ferries run to the Island every hour on the hour, except Monday-Thursday when there is no noon ferry. Hours of service vary depending on the season, but you can find information online at www.baldheadislandferry.com . Make your reservations for your trip to the Island as well as for your return reservation online or by calling the ferry ticket office at 910 457-5003. Ferries and Trams become crowded during the summer months, so we advise you to make your reservations as soon as you have booked your housing.
Once you arrive on the Island, you’ll be assigned a tram that will take you and your luggage to your vacation home.
How to Pack
In general, pack as if you were taking an airplane: the lighter the better. No need to bring beach chairs and umbrellas, since all of our houses have those standard items.
All items must be in a covered container, suitcase or zipped bag. Dock personnel does not accept open-topped and unsecured items. Checked items must not require more than one person to safely handle.
All checked baggage must be tagged by the owner before being accepted by dock personnel. To save time, you can print out Bald Head Island Ferry Luggage Tags ahead of time when you make your ferry reservation at www.baldheadislandferry.com . Tags are also available at the dock.
Most large items such as surfboards, bikes, kayaks, etc can be rented on the Island. However, if you plan to bring oversized items, they may be accepted with an Excess Baggage Ticket for $25. Since space on the ferry is limited, it is possible that large items will have to be transported on a different ferry than the one you are taking. Large items cannot be transported to your island home on the passenger trams. They will be held at the Island ferry terminal until you can transport them on the home’s golf cart. When leaving the island, bikes should be brought to the island ferry terminal no later than the evening prior to departure. Otherwise, your departure could be delayed.
Some items are not allowed on the ferry. These include furniture and car top carriers. If you have any questions, call the ferry ticket office at 910 457-5003.
